How long do the batteries last

The expected lifespan of the batteries is one to two growing seasons. A station measures soil moisture every 20 minutes and only transmits if the moisture has changed since the last reading. The transmission to the cloud uses the most battery power. Shorter battery life can be expected if there are more than normal transmissions such as occurs when there is a poor cellular signal.

Batteries can easily be changed by the grower with a Philips-head screwdriver.
